Texas Children’s Hospital continues to lead in the fight against COVID-19.
In recent days, the advisory committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended the FDA emergency use authorization of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old. Texas Children’s is now awaiting FDA authorization, recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and approval by the State to begin administering these vaccines.
Pending these important approvals, which are expected to occur in the coming days, Texas Children's Hospital is excited to announce that we are opening appointments to provide free Pfizer vaccinations for children 5-11 years old. Vaccinations will begin Saturday, November 6.
If the pending federal and state approvals occur sooner, we will open appointments earlier than November 6. Texas Children’s will offer COVID-19 vaccines at all of our hospitals; select Texas Children’s Pediatrics offices throughout Houston, College Station and Austin; The Center for Children and Women; and Houston area schools and churches.

It is important to note that these appointments may be rescheduled or canceled if pending federal and state approvals conflict with vaccine administration at the time of the appointment.
